Ujjayi Breath Pranayama

Les Mill Body Balance 50 introduces ujjayi breathing technique (as a followup article from Breath of Fire Kundalini Yoga Pranayama). This time I am pretty sure I am correct 🙂 I tried this technique during downward facing dog (adho mukha svanasana), high lunge (utthita ashwa sanchalanasana), one-legged king pigeon pose – (eka pada rajakapotasana) and it makes it easier. I just do not know if the room was cozy enough for my muscles to be loose.

How to do

  1. Breathe through your mouth.
  2. Constrict your throat slowly when exhaling to lessen the the space of air passage.
  3. Now, apply toning of the throat during inhales. This would produce a very low snoring-like sound.
  4. When comfortable, close your mouth and do the breathing technique. This is ujjayi breath.
