Diet and nutrition are as important to any person who have an active lifestyle, especially if you do workout for more than 3 hours per week. Likewise, group class or any dance class, requires high energy, agility, mental awareness, coordination and strength. With increased demands being placed on metrosexual and gay men, physical stamina, fad diets and high calorie/high caffeinated energy drinks are becoming the ‘quick fix’ nowadays.

Fad diets promise quick weight loss, great abs and beautiful bodies. High calorie/high caffeinated energy drinks promise to propel your energy level to extended levels. The reality of these fad diets is people experience rapid weight loss with rebound weight gain. The six pack abs and the beautiful bodies aren’t attained without condition and work-outs. The promises of the high calorie/high caffeinated energy drinks are empty and often cause heart rates to elevate to dangerous levels.

The truth is, food is not the enemy of the body. Food is the body’s energy source. You must eat healthy to be healthy. The body needs multiply food sources: carbohydrates, proteins, fats/oils, as well as fluids. A complete diet will include all of these. Carbohydrates are the body’s main energy source, proteins build muscles, fats/oikls are sooicated with your brain development, nerves , and hormones and fluids hydrate your body. It is alos important to consume diary products to ensure strong bone development.

It is important to be aware of what you are eating to fuel your body. Just as you wouldn’t put water in your vehicle to make it run, you can’t fuel your body with hast food, sodas, and sweet treats. It is important to fuel your body with proper nutritents to maximize your performance. Therefore, follow these simple guidelines when you are grabbing a bit to eat before during, and after your workout.

Before – Eat high carbohydrates foods such as fruits, vegratables, and whole grains. Avoid fatty foods syuch as hamburgers, pizza and ince cream. Eliminate high sugar items like sodas, frappuccinos and canides. Think fresh, whole food.

During – Stay hydrated. Drink water throughout your work-out. Sports beverages can be consumed to replenish electrolytes, too.

After – Eat protein in small amounts to replenish what you lost during your workout. Replace potassium and sodium with fruits and vegetables. Continue to get hydrated with fluids.

Eating healthily and fuelling your body properly isn’t just important . healthy eating should be a daily habit. When making food and beverage choices, think in terms of whole foods. Try to avoid processed, fatty, sugary, foods and drinks. Choosing fresh whole food and water will provide your body with vitamins and nutrients it needs to reach optimal performance. When faced with sweet treat or fast foods, remember, moderation is the key.
